Privacy policy
We’re a family-run practice, and we treat your information the way we’d want ours treated. This page explains what we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do about it.
Who we are
Kernow Accountancy Ltd, Kernow House, Water-Ma-Trout, Helston, Cornwall, TR13 0LW. We are the data controller for the information described here. You can reach us on 01326 377104 or at info@kernow.ltd.
What we collect
When you fill in a form on this site we collect the details you give us — typically your name, email address, phone number, whether you’re a sole trader or landlord, a rough income band, the services you’re interested in, and anything you write in the message box.
If you become a client, we’ll collect the further information we need to do your accounting work and to meet our legal obligations, such as identity checks.
Why we use it and our lawful basis
- To reply to your enquiry and provide the quote or MTD check you asked for — with your consent, and in the run-up to a possible contract.
- To provide accountancy services to clients — performance of our contract.
- To meet legal and regulatory duties, including anti-money-laundering and record keeping — legal obligation.
- To keep the website secure and working properly — our legitimate interests.
We don’t sell your data, and we won’t add you to a marketing list from an enquiry form unless you ask us to.
Who we share it with
Only where we need to: our email and IT providers, our accounting and practice software, and HMRC or other authorities where the law requires it. Anyone handling data on our behalf is required to keep it confidential and secure.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that don’t become work are kept for up to 12 months. Client records are kept for at least 6 years after our work ends, as tax and company law requires.
Cookies
Essential cookies and local storage keep the site working and remember your cookie choice. Optional cookies — for example anything that measures how the site is used — only run if you accept them in the banner. Nothing optional loads before you choose.

Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict how we use it, and withdraw consent at any time. Just email info@kernow.ltd and we’ll sort it out.
If you’re not happy with how we’ve handled things, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
